Disk or tape drive solenoid type brake assembly as used in Control Data Corporation drives.

actually made by Inertial Dynamics Inc. These are a simple electromagnetic device that releases a radiused cork friction plate from the rotating disk, probably a 5mb 14" disk, so a bit of computing history.

These prehistoric hard drives are now only found in museums ....( and legacy military instalations, shock horror.)

so if you are a computer restorer or have some spare nukes in the back garden bunker then this is probably the part that has worn out on your targeting system hard drive and causing that big red button to flash.
